About the Event
Come to learn about stage combat to our Fight Sunday!
Fight Sundays are open level workshops dedicated to various themes related to the art of stage and screen fight. Every Fight Sunday offers a great opportunity to introduce yourself to the field, learn new skills or practice the techniques you are already familiar with. The first Fight Sunday of the season is called Push Hands.
This concept is the bridge to understanding leverage, reflex, sensitivity, timing, coordination and positioning in a martial aspect. It works to undo a person's natural instinct to resist force with force, teaching the body to yield to force and redirect it. Helps us develop ting jing (listening power), the sensitivity to feel the direction and strength of a partner's intention in a safe environment.

NEIL OWENS. A long time member of Dramatic Combat Finland with a professional career on stage and screen spanning 35 years. From ballet to musicals and everything in between. Parallel to this he has been an eclectic study martial arts. Picking up nuggets of gold along his travels. Incorporating all this performance and martial experience into his studies with DCF.
Whether you are a theatre, dance or circus professional, or you are an enthusiast, who always wanted to learn about performing and creating stories of violence - come to the workshop! The training is sure to be both fun and useful as you learn partnering, cooperation and coordination skills, agility, precision and spatial awareness.
It is especially good for those who are new to our system, but it is also an excellent opportunity for more advanced fighters to remind themselves of the fundamental principals of performing violence and keep up the essential skills!
Come to learn, and come to play! We teach in English and/or Finnish, depending on the needs of the group.
