About the Event

For the third Fight Sunday of the autumn 2021 Dramatic Combat Finland offers a bull whip training with Katerina Repponen. 

The course practices a variety of ways to use a whip such as blows, throws and aims. In addition you will practice demanding exercises on precision, such as hitting a target. Participation in the course does not require previous experience in using a whip. At the end of the class, Katerina tells and gives tips on where to get your own whip and what a good whip is for training or performing. 

IMPORTANT! You will need to bring your own earplugs and long-sleeved clothing (pants and a shirt that will cover as much skin as possible).

Places are very limited to othis one. There will be two groups of max 5 people in each group.

Come to learn, and come to play! We teach in English and/or Finnish, depending on the needs of the group.

What to have with you:

- long-sleeved comfortable clothing  (pants and a shirt that will cover as much skin as possible).

- earplugs

- shoes that don't leave any marks on the floor

- gloves for working with weapons

- water bottle!

KATERINA REPPONEN is a circus artist from Finland. She started her circus training at the age of six. Katerina graduated 2010 from Lahti Further Education Center of circus arts in 2011. Since then Katerina has been performing in many circuses, variete theaters and productions in Europe and USA like Friedrihsbau Variete, Cirque Eloize, Sirkus Finlandia, Cirque Dreams and many more. Katerina is specialized in foot juggling, hand to hand acrobatics and whip cracking. Together with her hand to hand acrobatic partner they have been performing in over 17 countries. In 2014 they won silver prize with their unique hand to hand act at the International Golden Karl circus festival in Latvia.

Fight Sundays are open level workshops dedicated to various themes related to the art of stage and screen fight. Every Fight Sunday offers a great opportunity to introduce yourself to the field, learn new skills or practice the techniques you are already familiar with.

Whether you are a theatre, dance or circus professional, or you are an enthusiast, who always wanted to learn about performing and creating stories of violence - come to the workshop! The training is sure to be both fun and useful as you learn partnering, cooperation and coordination skills, agility, precision and spatial awareness.

It is especially good for those who are new to our system, but it is also an excellent opportunity for more advanced fighters to remind themselves of the fundamental principals of performing violence and keep up the essential skills!
