Tampere Basic Course: Action Hero Lab

Action Hero Lab

The Action Hero Lab is a five-week basic course in film-fighting organized in collaboration with The Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region and Dramatic Combat Finland. We will explore the action scenes from different films and look into the secrets behind them. We will then explore how to create something similar with simple everyday tools and without highly-trained stuntpeople. We will first study the film-fighting basics and then recreate simplified versions of specific action scenes. Finally we will design and film our very own fight scenes.

Kurssi on viiden viikon elokuvataistelun peruskurssi yhteistyössä Tampereen seudun työväenopiston kanssa. Tutustumme elokuvien toimintakohtauksiin ja niiden salaisuuksiin yhdessä. Tutkimme, monetko niistä ovat kotikonstein, turvallisesti ja pienellä budjetilla toteutettavissa. Tutustumme kurssin aikana erilaisiin mediassa näkyviin fiktiivisiin toimintakohtauksiin ja niiden takana oleviin näyttämötaistelutekniikoihin. Teemme ja kuvaamme sitten niistä yksinkertaistettuja versioita itse.

The course is taught by teacher-in-training Juuso-Matias Maijanen, and is a part of a film fighting module of their teacher-studies.
