Join us at Tampereen seudun Työväenopisto for an exciting 6-session course in theatrical sword fighting! Learn the basics of stage combat and bring to life the adventures of musketeers, pirates, and other legendary heroes.

About the Event
Have you always wanted to learn how to portray a musketeer, pirate, or other swashbuckling hero? Now's your chance! In this course, we’ll cover the basics of theatrical sword fighting from the ground up. You'll explore various ways to tell captivating stories through sword fights, using classic single-handed stage swords. The course is taught by performing arts professional Juuso-Matias Maijanen and is part of his stage combat instructor training.
This course is primarily aimed at young adults, especially those interested in history and theater. Participants will need indoor athletic shoes and gloves for handling the swords. The instructor may provide a few pairs of gloves for loan. The course fee includes the rental of a theatrical sword.
Please note that not all exercises in the course are fully accessible to everyone. They rely on vision, hearing, touch, the ability to hold a sword, and the ability to move around the space. Since the course focuses on portraying violence, discussions will also touch on real-world violence.
The course will be conducted in Finnish, but the instructor can switch to English or Swedish if needed.
