Fight Sunday: The Art of Duel

In the 16th century, the rapier served as a self-defense weapon for civilians, but it became more associated with dueling and fashion. The rapiers were designed for unarmored civilian combat and in Europe, it was the duelist’s weapon of choice. Dueling thrived from the Middle Ages until the late 19th century in Europe, where rapiers and smallswords served as dueling weapons. 

In Nordic Stage Fight Society single rapier is considered to be the gateway to all armed weapon systems and perfect to learn the basic principles of theatrical swordplay. Whether you are a theatre, dance or circus professional, or you are an enthusiast, who always wanted to learn about performing and creating stories of violence - come to our Fight Sunday! The training is sure to be both fun and useful as you learn partnering, cooperation and coordination skills, agility, precision and spatial awareness.

We teach in Finnish and/or English, depending on the needs of the group.

- comfortable clothes

- shoes that don't leave any marks on the floor

- gloves to work with weapons (any gloves will do!)
